In the absence of regular Thundercats skipper Matt Bailey (having been promoted to the 1st XV) Ollie Clapp led out this young Thundercats team but with the average age somewhat distorted by the inclusion in the squad of Club Leg Ends Dave Langdon & Rich Loader.
So another callow Thundercats team took to the 4g pitch at North Bristol hoping to exploit the open spaces against a heftier side. With uncontested scrums much of the expected advantage of the home side was negated.

Thundercats started brightly, combining moving the ball swiftly with some intelligent kicking to pin back their opponents and they finally converted one of their opportunities when they stretched the defence wide before cutting back in for an unconverted try.
This galvanised North into some good passages of play of their own when they linked up elusive running from the backs with power play from the forwards to respond with 2 tries to take a 12 - 5 lead.

The Cats were playing a little into Bristol's hands by running into contact with their opposition but finally realised the benefits of stretching their tiring forwards to level the scores with a 7 point try.

Any thoughts that they might run away with game were dashed by elusive running by the Almondsbury side's Centre who scored another individual try to give them the edge.

Thundercats were not to be denied however, taking the game to North Bristol with some bullocking runs and offloads and were rewarded with the try that gave them a 2 point victory in a game played in good spirit.

Final Score (22-24) - Joe Brocks parents made it 37-39 but even the ref wasn’t sure but it was a two point victory - well done to all in the Thundercats!

Man of the Match: Ben Raymond for a good mix of direct running and getting the ball wide, solid defence and bagging 2 meat pies (tries). With handsome Shrek getting an honourable mention for sending two blokes into orbit and showing some decent pace for a big lad.
